Roof bars or a Camp Stand?
A Starlink Mini on a rack mount, clamped to your van's flat roof bars, means less to set up at camp, but the van then needs a clear view of the sky. A Camp Stand lets you park in the shade and put the dish out in a clearing. Tell us how you camp and we'll suggest the setup that fits.
Van mount options
Van mounts depend on the mount and are added to our caravan install. Need to run your Starlink away from mains power? We can supply a suitable inverter or DC converter, and fitting is quoted separately. Tell us where the van is and we'll show you the price in your quote.
Van Rack Mount (Starlink Mini)
Starlink's own Mini Roof Rack Mount, clamped to the flat roof bars your van already has. No drilling.
A Mini on the roof bars adds a little height, so re-measure your van's total height and check your registration rules before you travel.
Camp Stand (Starlink Standard or Starlink Mini)
A fold-up stand with the right adaptor for your dish. We set it up and line it up with you on site, so you can pack it away when you move on.
No new holes in your van
We don't drill your van roof or walls. We bring the cable in through an entry point your van already has, or through a window or door, set up so it closes without crushing the cable.
Using Starlink on the move
Starlink allows in-motion use for the Starlink Standard and Starlink Mini on Roam and Priority plans, in places where Starlink authorises it. Residential plans don't allow in-motion use. We set up for use when you're parked. Pack the Camp Stand away and secure it before you drive.

Getting the cable into the van
We bring the cable in through an entry point your van already has, or through a window or door, without drilling any new holes.

Running the dish off your van's power
The Starlink Standard dish and the Starlink Mini both come with a mains power supply that plugs into a power point. Away from mains power, the Standard dish needs an inverter or a DC converter to run from your battery. The Mini can also run from a suitable DC supply, as Starlink specifies. If the van needs an inverter or DC converter, we can supply the unit, and we quote it with the fitting to suit the van. If you'd rather use your own unit, we need to check it's suitable first. Starlink's warranty doesn't cover problems caused by power equipment it hasn't provided or approved, or by your power setup. Any mains (240 V) work is done by a licensed electrician. More on powering Starlink in a van.

Handover before you head off
We switch it on, check the app shows a clear view of the sky, and show you how to power it down and pack it for the road. Our standard setups are for use while parked.
Questions about fitting Starlink to a van
- Which Starlink dish do you fit to vans?
- We fit the Starlink Standard dish and the Starlink Mini. If you have a different Starlink kit, tell us which one when you send photos and we'll confirm.
- Can you use the house mounts on a van?
- No. A van roof is not a house roof. Van mounts depend on the mount. Tell us where the van is and we'll show you the price in your quote.
- Do I need an inverter?
- Not always. The Standard dish needs an inverter or a DC converter away from mains power. The Mini can also run from a suitable DC supply, as Starlink specifies. If your van needs an inverter or DC converter, we can supply the unit, and we quote it with the fitting to suit the van. If you'd rather use your own unit, we need to check it's suitable first.
- Can I use it while driving?
- Our standard setups are for use while parked. Starlink only allows use on the move on plans that support it, such as Roam, and never on a Residential plan. It also needs a kit approved for in-motion use and a proper in-motion mount, which is the owner's responsibility. Ask us first if you want to use it on the move.
