Starlink installation in Leongatha

Leongatha is the main town of South Gippsland's dairy country, with about 5,900 people, in the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges 135 km south-east of Melbourne. The railway arrived in 1891 and the township grew around it. A large dairy processing plant on the north side of town makes milk products for Australia and overseas. Farms run out to Koonwarra, Ruby, Mardan and Berrys Creek.

Internet in Leongatha

In the town centre it's mostly NBN fibre to the node (FTTN), for example on Roughead Street and Long Street. Further out, on the rural roads, addresses fall in NBN fixed wireless areas. For mobile, Mobile Black Spot Program towers were built nearby at Boorool (Optus, 2018) and Berrys Creek (Telstra, 2020). For homes, sheds and workshops out of town, Starlink is often faster and steadier than fixed wireless.
