Starlink installation in Wonthaggi

Wonthaggi is the main town of the Bass Coast, 132 km south-east of Melbourne, and the biggest town in the South Gippsland area. It was founded in 1910 around the State Coal Mine, which fuelled the Victorian Railways and was one of the largest and most dangerous collieries in Australia. Today it's a service town for beef and dairy country and the nearby beaches. The Wonthaggi Wind Farm and the desalination plant are on the coast toward Dalyston, and Kilcunda and Cape Paterson are close by.

Internet in Wonthaggi

In the town centre it's mostly NBN fibre to the node (FTTN), for example on McKenzie Street and Watt Street. Further out, on the rural roads, addresses fall in NBN fixed wireless and satellite areas. For mobile, a Mobile Black Spot Program tower was built at Kongwak (Telstra, 2017). Out of town, where fixed wireless can struggle, Starlink is the usual step up. In town it suits homes on a slow line.

About $75 travel on top of the install.
