Completed project

Ciaron Maher Racing

Cranbourne, Victoria

Starlink moved to Stable 2, then wireless bridges to the entry office and the event room, with one Wi-Fi network across the stables.

Two wireless bridge units aimed from the office across the Cranbourne stable complex.
The Ciaron Maher Racing network controller, open in the stable aisle.
Plan of the stable complex: Starlink at Stable 2, with bridges to the entry office and Stable 1.
Indicative
The stable building, with the dish on the upper roof and a wireless link leaving the site.

Mount: Starlink at Stable 2, on the shared mast

What we did

  • Moved the Starlink dish to Stable 2
  • Connected it into the existing rack on the shared mast
  • Wireless bridge to the entry office, with indoor Wi-Fi there
  • Wireless bridge to Stable 1 and the event room, with indoor Wi-Fi there
  • One Wi-Fi network across those work areas, so phones stay connected as people move
  • Remote view of the bridges and access points, so a check does not always need a visit

The Cranbourne stables had grown into a mix of separate internet services and different Wi-Fi, with gaps between the buildings. Days start early and finish late, so the connection has to be there before anyone is looking for a password. We kept the rack and the mast that were already there, and used wireless bridges instead of long cable runs across the stables. Staff can walk between Stable 2, the entry office and the event room without changing networks. The bridges and access points can be checked from the controller, so a fault does not always mean a trip back to site.
