Moving the dish on the same property

Sometimes the dish just needs to go somewhere else. Trees have grown into its view, you're renovating, or the roof is being replaced.

It's $150 to take it down, then the install price to put it back up. Add $250 if the new place is double-storey. Mounts and conduit are charged as usual. Travel depends on your address, and we show it in your quote.

Diagram of one property with a tiled house and a Colorbond garage. The dish is now on the main roof and on a wall mount high on the house wall, and arrows show three new spots: another spot on the same roof, a tripod on the garage roof, or a wall mount fixed high on the garage wall under the gutter. A teal cable runs from the new roof spot down the wall to the router inside. On brick veneer that path is the wall cavity to a wall plate on the plaster side.

When it makes sense

If trees are getting in the way, or you're dropping out at the same times each day, a better place for the dish can help. It's also worth doing before a reroof or renovation, so the dish isn't in the way.

Where is the dish now?

Roof (tiles)

On tile, the bracket is bolted to a truss under the tiles. We unbolt it and slide the tile back.

Roof (Colorbond)

On Colorbond, the tripod comes off and your existing roof screws go back in.

Wall

A fascia or wall mount is held on with coach bolts (timber) or a backing plate (Colorbond). It comes off and the bolt holes are filled.

Where is it going?

Same roof

Usually the simplest. Often the same mount works, and the cable may only need extending or rerouting.

Another building's roof or wall

It needs power in the building. Getting the connection back to the house may need a cable run or a wireless link, and we'll talk you through the options.

A wall on the house

The dish goes on a wall mount under the fascia or gutter, or onto a wall. Wall mount price confirmed after photos.

What we do

Your service address stays the same because it's the same property.

  • Take the dish, mount and cable down from where it is now
  • Fill the old roof or wall holes
  • Put the dish up in the new place and run new cable
  • Check it connects before we leave

Can the old mount be reused?

That depends on the new surface. A Colorbond tripod won't suit a fascia, and a fascia mount won't suit a tile roof. We'll tell you on the day, or before if you send photos.

Questions

How much does it cost?
$150 to take it down, then the install price to put it back up. Add $250 if the new place is double-storey. Mounts and conduit are extra if needed. Travel depends on your address, and we show it in your quote.
Do I need to change anything in my Starlink account?
Your service address doesn't change, because it's the same property.
Can you reuse my mount?
If it suits the new surface, yes. If not, you'll need a new mount and we'll tell you before we start.
I'm getting a new roof. When should I call?
Before the roofers start, so the dish is off and out of the way. Talk to us about your roofing supplier's requirements.
Will there be holes left where the dish came off?
They're filled. On tile, the tile slides back. On Colorbond, the existing screws go back in. Fascia holes are filled. You may still see where it was.
