Power and batteries
The Starlink Standard dish and the Starlink Mini both come with a mains power supply that plugs into a power point. Away from mains power, the Standard dish needs an inverter or a DC converter to run from your battery. The Mini can also run from a suitable DC supply, as Starlink specifies. If the van needs an inverter or DC converter, we can supply the unit, and we quote it with the fitting to suit the van. If you'd rather use your own unit, we need to check it's suitable first. How long your batteries last depends on the battery, the kit and how you use it, so tell us about your power setup when you send photos.
Roof, portable or both
A Starlink Mini on a rack mount on your roof bars means less to set up at camp, but shade trees will block it. A Camp Stand lets you move the dish into the open. Some owners want both. Tell us how you camp.
On the road
Our standard setups are for use while parked. Starlink only allows use on the move on plans that support it, such as Roam, in the areas it allows, and never on a Residential plan. It also needs a kit approved for in-motion use and a proper in-motion mount, which is the owner's responsibility. Check with Starlink before you rely on it.
Plans and kits
We don't sell Starlink plans or kits. You order the kit from Starlink and choose a plan with them. For the wider choice between park Wi-Fi, a phone hotspot and Starlink, read our caravan internet guide.

- Will Starlink run off my van's battery?
- It can. The Standard dish needs an inverter or a DC converter. The Mini can also run from a suitable DC supply, as Starlink specifies. If your van needs an inverter or DC converter, we can supply the unit, and we quote it with the fitting to suit the van. If you'd rather use your own unit, we need to check it's suitable first.
- Will it flatten my batteries?
- That depends on your battery, your Starlink kit and how long you run it. The Standard dish uses more power than the Mini. Send us details of your power setup and we'll talk it through. Switch it off when you're not using it.
- Do you drill a hole in the van?
- No. We don't drill your van. The cable comes in through an entry point your van already has, or through a window or door, set up so it closes without crushing the cable.
- Can I park under trees?
- The dish needs a clear view of the sky. Under thick trees it will drop out, so a portable setup can suit if you like shady sites.
