Starlink installation in Red Hill

Also covers Main Ridge.

Red Hill is a hinterland village of about 1,000 people in the middle of the Mornington Peninsula, named for its rich red soil. Orchards came first, and since the 1970s vineyards have spread across the ridges, along with cellar doors and restaurants. A community market runs monthly from September to May. Homes sit on larger blocks among paddocks and trees on hilly ground, with Red Hill South, Main Ridge and Merricks North around it.

Internet in Red Hill

Red Hill is split. The town centre is mostly NBN fibre to the node (FTTN), while the outer and rural parts are in NBN fixed wireless and satellite areas. For mobile, a Mobile Black Spot Program tower was built at Merricks (Optus, 2022). For homes, sheds and workshops out of town, Starlink is often faster and steadier than fixed wireless.
