Starlink installation in Mirboo North

Mirboo North is a hill town of about 2,300 people in the Strzelecki Ranges, 155 km east of Melbourne, where the Grand Ridge Road crosses the Strzelecki Highway. Timber getters came for the mountain ash in the late 1870s, and a branch railway from Morwell ran until 1974. The old line is now the Grand Ridge Rail Trail, 13 km through rainforest and forest. In August 2005 about 15 cm of snow fell on the town.

Internet in Mirboo North

The town centre has fixed-line NBN, mostly fibre to the node (FTTN), for example on Giles Street and Couper Street. Out of town it changes to NBN fixed wireless and satellite. For mobile, Mobile Black Spot Program towers were built nearby at Mirboo (Telstra, 2018), Dumbalk North (Telstra, 2017) and Berrys Creek (Telstra, 2020). Out of town, where fixed wireless can struggle, Starlink is the usual step up. In town it suits homes on a slow line.
