Cable entry and router placement

One cable route, agreed with you. In under the tiles, down the cavity, out at a wall plate near power.

Where the cable goes

On a brick-veneer home with a clear gap between the brick and the stud wall, the cable goes in under the tiles at the eave, down the wall cavity between the brick and the stud wall, past the noggin, to a wall plate on the plaster side. That is included in the standard install.

On cladded, rendered foam or Hebel walls with no gap, the noggins are drilled through. That is $150 extra.

If the cavity can't be used, we agree on an outside cable route. External cable in conduit costs 99 for up to 5 m. Longer runs are quoted.

We don't run the cable through internal walls.

Where the router lives

The cable comes out at a wall plate on the plaster side. The router goes near a power point there. A garage, cabinet or rack is a $150 extra on direct bookings when agreed. Putting the router in a closed box with no ventilation is how hardware dies in summer.

Questions

Can you use an existing air-con hole?
Sometimes. We will not force a cable through a hole that is not a sound entry. Tell us what is already in the wall.
