The lead-in on a knockdown rebuild
Traditional internet comes into a house through a lead-in: a conduit from the street. When the old house comes down, that path has to be put back for the new one. That's reinstatement work, and it's one more thing on the list when you rebuild.
Starlink doesn't use a lead-in. The dish goes on the roof, and the cable runs inside to the router. Nothing has to come in from the street for the internet.
What VinReady is
VinReady is how builders get a home Starlink ready during the build. Your builder can offer it as an upgrade, or include it as standard. There are two options:
- Starlink Ready. We make the home Starlink ready. You order Starlink direct from Starlink, then call us for the final fit-off.
- Full hardware kit. A full Starlink kit, dish included, is supplied with the home. You activate it yourself.
Move-in day
With the full kit, the home can be online within an hour of moving in. Open the Starlink app and choose "Activate Starlink". The kit's serial number links the hardware to your account, and it's live as soon as the dish is powered up. No waiting on a lead-in.
You get a handover pack that explains activation, with your builder's name on it. If you have a question about the install or activation, call us on 0408 559 555. (We're not a general internet helpdesk, but we'll help you get your Starlink going.)
NBN can still be on the table
This isn't Starlink or nothing. With the Starlink Ready option, the home can also be NBN ready, so you have the choice. Already weighing up the two? Read Starlink beside an existing NBN service.
Ask your builder early
Mention VinReady to your builder while the plans are still being drawn up. It's simpler to plan the dish spot and the cable path during the build than to chase it through new plaster later. Read make a new home Starlink-ready for what to leave in the build.
